May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month

Every May, we turn our attention to the people living with asthma and allergies and the people who support and care for them.  Since 1984, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) has declared May to be “National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month.” On a near-daily basis, the team at VitalFlo hears first-hand about the impact that asthma and allergies take on both patients and providers.

Quick facts (source: AAFA)

More than 65 million Americans overall have asthma and allergies. Some people may have one or both of these conditions.

  • About 25 million Americans have asthma (20 million adults and 5 million children)1
  • About 32 million Americans have food allergies (26 million adults and 6 million children)2,3
  • About 24 million Americans have rhinitis (hay fever), or nasal allergies (19.2 million adults and 5.2 million children)4
  • There is no cure for asthma or allergies.

How can you help? By bringing awareness to the conditions and supporting the advocacy work being done by leading experts and educators in the field.  Visit aafa.org or contact us to learn more.
